International conference on archiving the 21st century: 80 Years Collection IAV
Atria, the Dutch National Institute on Gender Equality and Women's History, is holding a conference to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Collection International Archives for the Women’s Movement (Collection IAV). The Collection IAV, preserved by Atria, is a unique resource for research on women's and gender history, and for the study of women's movements in the Netherlands and around the world.
The conference will focus on the social, cultural, political and academic importance of women’s archives and of institutions for the enhancement of gender equality in the 21st century. Distinguished speakers from Egypt, Germany, Hungary, Serbia, Peru, South Africa, Sweden, UK, USA and the Netherlands will present current perspectives and findings on the role of women's archives in the 20th and 21st century.
IFLA President Donna Scheeder will be speaking on the role of libraries in the international context, more specificlly on recent developments concerning the Post-2015 UN Development agenda.
Dina Youssef, Director of IFLA-CASL, will take part in a panel discussion on the topic of: "Does archiving and collecting influence the emancipation of women? The global diversity perspective."
