The Forum will focus on disaster risk reduction and management as a key strategy for the sustainable preservation of documentary heritage by the concerned memory institutions (archives, libraries, museums, etc.).
The ultimate goal of this event is to encourage national governments and relevant organizations to develop a preventive strategy in response to natural disaster as a priority, increase their understanding of the essential importance of documentary heritage as a resource for humanity and strengthen existing multidisciplinary networks for disaster risk reduction. IFLA has been invited to speak about the IFLA Strategic Programme on Preservation and Conservation for the Forum.
