IFLA President Donna Scheeder promotes UN SDGs during Bulgaria’s 12th National Library Week

IFLA President Donna Scheeder delivered a keynote speech on Libraries in Support of Sustainable Development at the May 9th, 2017 opening of the 12th National Library Week, organized by the Bulgarian Library and Information Association (BLIA).
Librarians were joined at this event by many distinguished officials and Mrs. Iskra Mihaylova, Chair of the European Parliament Committee on Regional Development, addressed the audience. In a special address, Bulgarian President Radev congratulated the participants in the advocacy campaign, as well as all librarians, for their outstanding work and dedication to the profession.
During President Scheeder's visit, BLIA also signed an official agreement to join the International Advocacy Programme (IAP), adding to more the more than 70 countries already signed up. BLIA has also translated a number of important IAP-related advocacy materials into Bulgarian which will soon be made available on this website.
