Linked Data Special Interest Group

The Linked Data SIG is dedicated to gathering and disseminating information about the use of Semantic Web standards in libraries.

Created following IFLA WLIC 2011 in Puerto Rico under the name Semantic Web Special Interest Group (SWSIG), the Linked Data Special Interest Group intends to gather professionals interested in the application of Semantic Web standards such as RDF and OWL to library data and applications, and the development of Linked Data in libraries.

Philip E. Schreur speaking at LIDASIG meeting in Kuala Lumpur

Philip E. Schreur, the AUL for Technical and Access Services at Stanford University will be joining us at WLIC 2018 in Kuala Lumpur to talk about some of the major developments in Linked Data over the last year as well as his work on LD4P to Linked Data for Production (LD4P). In his role at Stanford, he is responsible for the University's collections, from their purchase to cataloging, their access to preservation. As the Stanford University Library pushes into the realm of linked data both for discovery and internal data structure, he champions the transformation within the university and with outside partners.

Slides from the SWSIG / LIDASIG open session now available

Our Special Interest Group once again held a successful open session in Columbus, with a full room of participants to the open discussion. Highlights from the session include the change of name - from SWSIG to LIDASIG - and welcoming our new convenor Astrid Verheusen.
